Beaver Springs Fishing Park is a tourist trap pure and simple! Any potential patron will have the experience Michelle M. describes and will be into them for over $100 in about 8 minutes flat. They have backyard size ponds FULL of fish - drop your line in and you've got one that you're paying for....and just try telling your kids to STOP! AWFUL experience and set up to take advantage of YOU - the unsuspecting tourist trying to have some good family fun. BEWARE!

I had the pleasure of touring Ten-C. on Sat. Sept.5th this past weekend. I can not tell you how enjoyable and educational it was. Our tour quides Nora and Bonnie were highly informed and knowledgeable about the history of the area, the estate and all the people involved in the history, starting with the famous couple themselves. The people who have restored and maintained this historical site have done an AMAZING job and I wish them continued success. I will be recommending this trip to everyone...I thank you for a wonderful wonderful afternoon. Sincerely, Linda

<p>This place is a joke. After catching 3 small fish, and 3 medium sized fish, we were told that our medium sized fish were "jumbo-sized" and it was an extra charge. We also were told to catch 3 more fish...that just added to the total of $167. We paid $1.50 for ice which were 3 frozen water bottles. This place is a rip-off and I'm actually embarassed for this website to even have them on here as an attraction. I will be sending them a letter asking for a refund...I will keep you posted.</p>

I was just past the former site of "the hideway". I am pretty sure it is goe for good. The huge sign on highway CC pointing down the driveway is nothing but two tall utility poles with a "AAA recommeded" sign on top. All of the signs concerning the hideway are gone. Also no mention of it in the Hayward summer happenings as there always was. Maybe they were closed due to tax evasion!!!

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
It all depends on what you like and enjoy spending your time doing. There are beaches, wineries, museums and much more, why don’t you go to www.wisconsinbeautiful.com and spend a little time looking over the different things listed. It will help you get an idea of what it is that you would enjoy.

I Love Cave of the Mounds. I have visited during every season and there is always something new to see. They have a great gift shop with rocks and fossils from all over the world. The grounds are stunning too, nice trails. Go see it!

Hi Jerry,
I understand that you are having computer problems so I will just tell you where the map of the lake is and perhaps you can go to someone else’s computer and print it off. It is at http://www.chippewaflowage.com/map.html

We are a travel information site dedicated to giving people the opportunity to learn about different places to travel and what to see and do in all 50 states but we are not associated with any of them directly. It helps us to keep our objectivity when writing about them.

We hope you have a chance to download the map, it appears to be quite good. When you arrive in the area I am certain they will be able to provide you with a bigger one, if you want.

Have a safe and most enjoyable experience!

Hi, I am an outdoor writer from the Chicago area, member of OWAA. I will be coming up to fish the Chippewa Flowage next Monday, and am totally unfamilliar with the lake. Can you supply me with a lake map so I don’t disappear forever among the islands? I have some kind of computer problem where-by the machine doesn’t always download graphics into anything a human being could use, so I am afraid I will have to rely on snail mail. However, if a map could be sent out today, it ought to arrive here by Saturday, and that would work fine. Otherwise, if such a map is available, perhaps you could direct me to one, or I could stop by your office on arrival and pick it up. Any help you might be able offer me would of course make my writing assignment easier to complete, and in the process reflect more favorably on your area. Thanks, Jerry

Fred Scheers Lumberjack Show also performs in Woodruff, Wisconsin (near Minocqua). The shows are just the exact opposite times as the Hayward shows. If Hayward has a 2:00 show, Woodruff has a 7:30 show.

Great family entertainment mixed with local history as well.

We love having the Apostle Islands praised and promoted - thank you so much. We are blessed to have this fine treasure to share with visitors and locals alike.

The one cautionary I would make: Please don't plan to use a canoe for any paddling across to any of the islands. Kayaks are your paddling boat of choice - and with that, we urge paddlers to work closely with the Apostle Island National Park staff and/or one of our local outfitters. Lake Superior is an inland sea and acts like one. Conditions can change drastically. Making open water crossings is to be taken seriously. Please come and paddle - but please be careful.

There is a kayak rental facility at:
Apostle Islands Kayaks
N690 Main Street
La Pointe, WI 54850
(715) 747-3636

Bayfield does not have an airport.

Thank you for contacting www.wisconsinbeautiful.com with your question. When you contact the kayak rental agency they may be able to tell you where the closest airport is.

I was wondering if there was any companies that rent kayaks out to get to The Apostle Island. Also, is there any municipal airports in the area?

thank you

Mary,
Thank you for contacting www.wisconsinbeautiful.com with your request. Since we are a travel site and not directly affiliated with the museum I have forwarded your message on to them and you should be receiving an answer from them.

It sounds like you will have a wonderful experience with Dr. Uwe Schroeder, Director of the Pommersches Landesmuseum in Greifswald, Germany and that you have planned an interesting experience for him.

Best regards,
Pat Watson

Attn: Marty Perkins

I am hoping to bring Dr. Uwe Schroeder, Director of the Pommersches Landesmuseum in Greifswald, Germany, to OWW on Wednesday morning, June 18th, so that he can visit the Pomeranian areas. Would anyone on staff want to greet him while he is there? In view of the weather we've had lately, are there detours or standing water we should be aware of? Are the grounds dry enough to walk on? We will be coming from Cedarburg.

Please email your response, or call me at 1-262-376-7641

Thank you.
